Slate Flooring
Slate is an ancient rock form that can be found in some of the oldest mountain regions of the world. For centuries slate has been mined from these mountains and used as a building material. There are various types of slate flooring generally available, but the two styles known as ‘riven’ and ‘honed’ maybe considered the most common for flooring. Riven tiles are hand split along the grain of the slate thus exposing a naturally textured finish. Honed slate has a much smoother appearance and finish.
At Burgess Reclamation we pride ourselves in offering customers with only the very best quality in flooring materials. We ensure that we provide the best materials by travelling to various quarries around the world in search of the perfect source. The slate quarry that Burgess and Sons use is a family run business, off the beaten track that we are in regular contact with. We ensure that our high standards are consistently met by visiting the quarry annually.
